Militants kill two, wound nine on Bangladesh Eid prayer gathering

BANGLADESH, ASIA – Local authorities have announced the death of two police officers and nine wounded, during a grenade attack on a security point in a town hosting the country’s most prominent celebrations for the end of the Ramadan fasting month.

District administrator Zillur Rahman told the press that the security point where the assault had taken place, is located near an area where an estimated 200,000 people had gathered for a prayer service in Kishoreganj. The town is approximately 140km northeast of the capital, Dhaka.

The precise number of people that were behind the attack is still unknown, while two of them were killed during the shoot-out that ensued. Local authorities did not manage to apprehend any of the gunmen.

One of the senior district officials, Mohammad Azimuddin Sheikh, claimed that, after the grenades were exploded, militants used “sharp weapons” to attack local police. The type of the said weaponry has not been specified yet.

We are still checking for other miscreants but after this incident prayers were held peacefully and we have asked everyone to go home,” Rahaman mentioned during a press conference.

The district administrator assured local residents that the attack had been brought under control for the time being.

It is worth adding that this attack comes in the wake of last week’s fatal tragedy, where alleged ISIS soldiers killed twenty people, primarily foreigners, in a cafe in the capital claimed by the Islamic State Islamists militant group.

According to data from past attacks of a similar nature, last week’s assault featured the largest number of casualties in Bangladesh’s history, causing fear amongst citizens and visitors of the country.

After the attack in the cafe, ISIS announced in an online video that the violence will be maintained until Islamic law is established worldwide, and that the particular assault was just a pre-taste of what there is yet to come.

Iraqi authorities revamp security in Baghdad to prevent terrorist bombings

Following a car bombing that left 15 dead and 42 wounded, the Iraqi government is overhauling security operations in the capital city of Baghdad to stop the incessant bombing activities from ISIS terrorists.

Militants from the Islamic State have incessantly pounded the Baghdad with car bombings in recent times in a way that beats the imagination of the local and federal police agents, and in a manner that is starting to frustrate the government.

The Islamic State militants have targeted the district of Gorayaat, a Shiite neighborhood on a bend in the Tigris River, for months with barrages of gunfire, car bombings, suicide attacks, rocket and mortar fires, as well as direct assaults.
The manner and success with which the attacks are being carried out is starting to show the security incompetence of the central government to protect the people of Gorayaat and Baghdad as a whole.

After any particular car bombing, police and soldiers swarm the streets of Gorayaat to secure the district, and they check people’s id’s and make non-residents to account for their presence. They also secure checkpoints in a flurry of activities that wear off after a day or two, and then they go back to their normal beats.

A resident, Idris Jawad, says “that goes on for one or two days, then it’s back to normal and we wait for the next bombing.”

In the face of these car bombings and suicide attacks, the government is now resolved to revamp its security measures to respond appropriately to these attacks as well as nab the operators overseeing the dozens of terrorists’ cells within Baghdad.
The government is planning on moving away from reliance on concrete blast walls and police checkpoints to beefing up security intelligence networks for the police and other security agencies. Police intelligence units have been understaffed and underfunded since the ouster of Saddam Hussein in 2003, and intelligence and officials of the Interior Ministry think it is high time they overhauled the unit.

The government is considering many ways to boost internal intelligence networks for the police, and part of these might be recruiting informers from local residents to report on suspicious behavior and activities in the neighborhood.

President Obama says ISIS beheading of Americans is pure evil

In a statement released from aboard Air Force One and read to the news media in Washington, President Barack Obama as described the ISIS killing of its latest victim, aid worker Peter Kassig, as “pure evil.” The Islamic State had released a short video clip showing the severed head of Peter Kassig and then made a mockery of the US government’s efforts at fighting them in Iraq and Syria.

Peter Kassig was a former Army Ranger with the US Army, but turned to the supplies and delivery of medical aids to wounded soldiers and civilians in Syria when the war was over. He was taken from a checkpoint in northeastern Syria when delivering humanitarian medical supplies and has since then disappeared, but the release of the ISIS video showing his decapitated head confirms that he has actually been killed – making him the fifth Western national to be killed – three Americans and two UK citizens, by the Islamic terrorist group.

President Obama stated that Kassig “was taken from us in an act of pure evil by a terrorist group…today we offer our prayers and condolences to the parents and family of Abdul-Rahman Kassig, also known to us as Peter.” The president appeared to have intentionally used Kassig’s adopted Muslim name following his capture to indicate to the killers that they have indeed killed a fellow Muslim. He goes ahead to identify with the “anguish at this painful time” that the Kassig’s family must be going through.

In the short video clip proving Kassig’s death, a man in black robe with a British accent, who has been identified by the UK government as Jihadi John was seen holding the beheaded head of Peter Kassig up for display.

The robed exectutioner, Jihadi John, said “This is Peter Edward Kassig, a U.S. citizen of your country. Peter, who fought against the Muslims in Iraq while serving as a soldier under the American Army, doesn’t have much to say. His previous cellmates have already spoken on his behalf. You claim to have withdrawn from Iraq four years ago. We said to you then that you are liars.”

Peter Kassig who appeared to have a premonition of his death wrote a smuggled out letter to his parents this summer, “I am obviously pretty scared to die but the hardest part is not knowing, wondering, hoping, and wondering if I should even hope at all,” he writes. “Just know I’m with you. Every stream, every lake, every field and river. In the woods and in the hills, in all the places you showed me. I love you.”

US intelligence agents believe the video clip to be genuine even though it seemed different from the previous four executions that had been seen. In Kassig’s case, only the part showing the severed head is shown but in other executions, video events leading up to the actual slashing of knife to decapitate the victim had always been shown. Analysts believe that something must have gone awry with the ISIS when beheading Kassig – and this made them to show only his severed head without showing the actual killing act in itself.

UK plans to capture British Jihadi John for role in 4 ISIS beheadings

The British government does not know his real names, but they know he goes by the pseudonym Jihadi John, and they are set to capture him for retributions over his defiant role in beheading two British citizens and two US nationals on video for ISIS. British authorities recognized him as a British citizen working for ISIS despite his covered face in his killing videos, and they are determined the Islamic criminal must be captured for the heinous crimes he has been committing in the name of God.

Recruiting Jihadi John to work and kill for ISIS militants underscores the ability of the terrorist organization to recruit US, UK, Canadian, and other countries’ nationals to join its ranks; and this presents a problem to world leaders – because if ISIS could recruit impressionable and energetic young men from outside its base in Syria and Iraq, then it could as well infiltrate world countries and recruit from within with the singular aim of attacking the target country from within – just like it happened with Osama bin Laden in the September 11 attacks.

UK security agents have reasons to believe that Jihadi John was wounded during a recent US airstrikes on 10 trucks convoy leaving an ISIS summit. Several ISIS top leaders were wounded and killed in the airstrikes, and Jihadi John is believed to have been taken to a border Syrian town for treatment after being wounded during the airstrikes.

UK and US intelligence agents are intensifying efforts to capture this monster of a creator for beheading US and UK citizens with relish on videos. Intelligence organizations are prioritizing Jihadi John’s capture for him to face retribution for his crimes, and to extract information about his involvement with ISIS and other intelligence about the terrorist organization.

Families of slain victims would be glad to have Jihadi John face the gallows, and his capture will ensure that no US or UK citizen or any other identified persons that belong to ISIS will go scot-free without answering for their crimes.
